Hockey Calgary & Hockey Alberta
Adam loved hockey. He loved all aspects and levels of the game. From his minor hockey days with the Crowfoot and Bow River Hockey Associations, to being a well respected official with Hockey Alberta for nearly 15 years. He was involved with on-ice evaluations with community associations as well as mentoring young players and officials. While not the biggest in stature, he had a way of managing on-ice shenanigans and hot headed coaches with his humour and humility. The funny (or frustrating) thing about Adam was that he was most often right. You couldn’t argue with him, whether at the rink or sitting across from him at the kitchen table.
Adam’s contributions to hockey officiating were recognized by Hockey Alberta Central Region Referee Committee through the creation of the Adam Laser Memorial Award in April 2024. This award will be presented annually to a member who is instrumental in the Mentorship Program and is a role model for all officials, on and off the ice.
Keep an eye out for the referees and linesman who sport the black and white striped stickers with Adam’s initials when you’re at the rink. It’s always a great day for hockey!
